RAID: Shadow Legends is a free to play fantasy MMO with strong RPG elements. Developed by Plarium, it puts players in control of their party of hero characters in combat.

At the game's core is the PvE progression in which you'll embark on story campaigns, dungeons and faction wars in order to level up your heroes and give them better gear.
Combat is turn-based, complex enough to keep it stimulating on the long run, but also easy to grasp for beginners.

You'll recruit new heroes over time (there are hundreds of them!), each one with its own strenghts and weaknesses that can be enhanched\mitigated through the use of artifacts, potions, glyphs and other items.
Only those who will understand how to maximize the potential of their champions will be able to climb the rankings in the PvP arena, the ultimate objective for the advanced player.

RAID features very good visuals: all of the in-game artworks (characters, locations, items, etc..) are beautiful, and this contributes a lot to the lore and atmosphere of the game.

Overall, RAID is a very good and fun MMORPG.
Plarium was known for making top-notch, though ordinary, strategy browser-games... with RAID, they markedly upped their ambitions. While it does feature some of the mechanics typical of the company's browser-based titles (like the Bastion to grow your hub), its core lies in the brand-new RPG elements of turn-based combat and heroes collection, which is where the real fun begins for MMORPG lovers.

➔ Main points:

  • Free to play party-based MMORPG that's fun and visually pleasing.
  • Hundreds of unique hero characters with individual skills and combat animations.
  • A combination of strategy and RPG turn-based combat mechanics.
  • Extremely popular title with active playerbase (also on mobile platforms).
  • Simple for beginners, but can become really tactical for hardcore gamers.

Game of Thrones: Winter Is Coming is an officially licensed Game of Thrones game that is authentic, fun and a challenge. Kingdom building is what you'll be doing mostly, but there are some interesting gameplay elements like RPG 3D battles that is very welcomed. The graphics are phenomenal and uses likenesses of the TV show characters. While it is very unforgiving to solo players, the game shines in group play with it's stellar Alliance System that promotes team work in order to reach end-game and rule the Iron Throne. Overall, this is a solid free to play game.

When playing Skyforge, you can’t help but feel appreciative of what the creators were doing: the foundation for Skyforge itself is based around really unique concepts.

The multi-class system, the interesting storyline, the beautifully animated environment and vast character customization skills come together for quite the impact.

The flaws in this game (mostly regarding PvP balancing) are not big enough to overwhelm all the great aspects of this new MMORPG, which has a lot to offer both to players looking for something new and for those who are looking for a traditional RPG experience.

Skyforge trapped me in this elaborate world that continues to prove itself worth it.

➔ Main points:

  • 2015 MMORPG with great graphics and action combo-based combat system.
  • A fantasy universe mixed with sci-fi elements.
  • Possibility to become a God, with divine superpowers and followers all over the world.
  • Several different PvP modes.

Vikings: War of Clans is a strategy browser game set in the thematic world of Vikings, where as Jarls, players must build their kingdoms, armies and heroes to wage war against each other.

The game offers the traditional, addictive kingdom-building gameplay that we've learnt to appreciate in many games of the same genre, on top of an in-depth progression system and an interesting hero system to provide some much-appreciated variety and additional complexity.

The game also features truly excellent 3D animations that give Vikings: War of Clans terrific scores for graphics and presentation. Our town is alive, and you can see the townsfolk bustling around your buildings, working the forges, mines and farms...
This, paired with the pleasant and thematic soundtrack, really does a great job in letting the player enjoy and "live" the atmosphere of the game.
It comes with some cons though, such as pretty high loading times.

Overall, Vikings: War of Clans is a great browser strategy game that, despite not being able to offer anything new to the veterans of this genre, does provide a top-notch and addictive war game experience to all those looking for an old-school, traditional gameplay.

➔ Main points:

  • A 2017 strategy browser game built under the most classical gameplay standards of the genre.
  • Excellent graphics and convincing atmosphere based on the world of Vikings.
  • Hours of addictive kingdom building and strategic warfare solo or with a clan.
  • Deep progression systems for strategy lovers that offer many different ways to play.
  • Does not require payment to enjoy the full experience, although advantages for paying users are quite visible.
